The Tavistock Rod & Gun Club’s Kids fishing derby took place on Apr 26th. Even though it was a cold and somewhat damp day, there was 196 registered kids fishing! First fish was caught before 8 am by a young lady on her first cast! (See picture below).
The club introduced multiple kids to their first experience fishing. The club involves multiple opportunities for kids & parents introducing them to outdoor activities in a safe environment under the guidance of experienced people no matter their background or personal experience at a low cost. Dave chose to spend the day assisting new fishers who needed the help, directing people to the amenities, and serving hot dogs & snack to participants with the necessary clean up at the end of the event.
Dave selected this organization because his own kids had similar opportunities and brought friends along. As they are grown, he wanted to continue to pass on the experiences to others who may not have the chance to experience.
Also, the stocking of the fish helps the natural environment and invests in future opportunities and naturalization. Future opportunities will include kids camp out, OFAH activities, training days and social events.
Dave would like to thank the committee and Tradition Mutual for all the support!
